Name Webpage capture on the news article of 300 workers protest over lack of pay, markets set to reopen
Description

This webpage capture shows about around 300 workers blocked Veng Sreng boulevard, demanding that factory owners pay them half of their April salaries, in line with the government's announcement. Workers protested for about an hour from around 12:30pm. Workers said they were concerned about possible COVID-19 transmission, but had no option other than to protest, as they were desperate for salaries. The outcome was later in the day, the factory and district administration said the problem was solved, with the company agreeing to pay owed April salaries. Workers had also asked for seniority pay, but the company asked for a delay until the middle of June. A representative of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers (CUMW), however, said it was her understanding that the factory had not agreed to pay more than $50. She said that government officials had intervened in negotiations, but workers felt they favored the factory.
