Dead in the Water: Global Lessons from the World Bank's model Hydropower project in Laos

In June 2018, the University of Wisconsin Press published a new book about the Nam Theun 2 Hydropower Project in Laos. The books findings relate to issues of environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation, resettlement and social development, accountability and governance, World Bank approaches to poverty alleviation, and the general appropriateness of very large infrastructure projects, particularly in developing countries. This paper provides a summary of the book and its findings.
