Lao labor migration and remittance, trends and economic and livelihood implications

This report looks into Laos international labour migration, its economic and livelihood aspects, trends and implications. The author examines the global distribution of Laos migrants and their occupations. Then, remittance and its implications on livelihoods are estimated and analyzed. Particular attention is ascribed to Laos migrant workers in Thailand. The author argues that previous surveys have underestimated the remittance flows to Laos from Thailand.
